Although dominated by towering office blocks, La Défense also has its pleasant areas, such as the long promenade that crosses its centre (the Esplanade), lined with restaurants and displaying modern works of art. It also boasts one of the largest shopping complexes in Europe, several cinemas, including the Dôme Imax with its spherical screen, la Colline de l'Automobile museum and exhibitions at the CNIT. Take a stroll around the île du Pont, have dinner at an elegant restaurant on the île de la Jatte and play tennis at the centre on the île de Puteaux. The Champs-Elysées are just a ten-minute metro journey away.
